No, let me stop. Hello and hi, my name is Timothy 'Tim' Murphy, and I am a Science Educator from Columbus, GA. I have been in the education profession for about five years, and since I first started, each year has been getting better and better. Let me mention this, education was not my first choice as a profession, but sometimes life hands you lemons, and you have to do your best to make the sweetest and most enjoyable lemonade from it. 🍋🍋🍋
Since my first day of teaching, I am have been enthralled with making sure that my lessons are engaging and fulfilling, so that students walk away with having learned more knowledge than what they originally walked into my classroom with. However, as I have continued with my educational career, there were a few items that sort of caught my eye, and made me start to ponder about the direction that my lessons were headed in.
The science material that I taught vary rarely had lessons and resources that could be used and implemented in a variety of ways that focused on multiple learner types.
Technology was becoming so much more predominant in ever evolving world that students and teachers were becoming so dependent on it which took away from the human interaction during the most engaging parts of the lesson.
Creativity had taken a back seat to information overload, which caused student sensory overload, and eventually students became so focused on making sure that the work they were turning in was right instead of allowing themselves to just have fun with their learning.
These were observations that I had made within my first few years of teaching, and with this information I decided to take action and become pro-active. This is where Murphy's Masterpieces came to fruition. With the assistance of Canva and my own personal creative endeavors, I started to develop my own set of personalized learning resources that could fit into my classroom, and therefore allow students to become much more engaged in my science lessons. These resources include worksheets, review games, presentations, and other tips and tricks that you can use in your classroom even if it doesn't happen to be science related. Make sure to check out all that I have to offer which includes my TPT site full of amazing teacher goodies.
